PLDRO series

The PLDRO (Phase Locked Dielectric Resonator Oscillator) provides the ultra-low phase noise and an excellent frequency stability when it is phase-locked to a clean and stable crystal reference signal. The PLDRO provides ideal signal for commercial and military systems that require ultra-low phase noise, low spurious, and high frequency stability.
Our PLDROs are available in four series: Single Loop PLDRO, Dual Loop PLDRO, Fractional-N PLDRO, and Variable Frequency PLDRO.

●  Single Loop PLDRO
The Single Loop PLDRO is a phase locked dielectric resonator oscillator whose output frequency is generated by a single phase locked loop. Our Single Loop PLDRO series consists of various types of PLDROs.

●  Dual Loop PLDRO
The Dual Loop PLDRO is a phase locked dielectric resonator oscillator whose output frequency is generated by a dual phase locked loop. This PLDRO series provides an output frequency whose phase is locked to an integer or fractional multiple of an external reference using PLCRO (Phase Locked Coaxial Resonator Oscillator) and frequency divider.

●  Fractional-N PLDRO
The Fractional-N PLDRO is an innovative phase locked dielectric resonator oscillator that solves the reference frequency dependence of the output frequency. This PLDRO series can generate any frequency in 1 KHz steps within 5 GHz to 28 GHz and has the same phase noise characteristics as Single Loop PLDRO.

●  Variable Frequency PLDRO
The variable frequency PLDRO series is a signal generator capable of providing both the ultra low phase noise performance of the PLDRO and the excellent frequency resolution of a direct digital synthesizer. This PLDRO series covers 5 GHz to 29 GHz and output frequency can be varied in steps of 10 KHz or less within a specified bandwidth.

Frequency Reference series

The Polaris PFRM series is a frequency reference module that can be used in a variety of applications: frequency reference for oscillators, military electronic systems, SATCOM, external frequency synchronization of instruments, and telecommunication standards.

There are two types of PFRM series we offer: PFRM-1 series and PFRM-4 series.

The PFRM-1 series is a single channel frequency reference module that provides a highly stable sine wave output. This series is categorized into PFRM-1-10 for 10 MHz output, PFRM-1-50 for 50 MHz output, and PFRM-1-100 for 100 MHz output. The OCXO housed inside this series provides a very stable temperature stability and excellent phase noise.

The PFRM-4 series is a 4-channel frequency reference module that provides a highly stable sine wave output. This series is categorized into PFRM-4-10 for 10 MHz output, PFRM-4-50 for 50 MHz output, and PFRM-4-100 for 100 MHz output. The OCXO housed inside this series provides a very stable temperature stability and excellent phase noise.

Direct Digital Synthesizer series

The Polaris DDS-2CH-OCXO is a dual channel direct digital synthsizer that provides ultra-precise frequency resolution, low spurious, and low phase noise performance. The DDS-2CH-OCXO has an internal 100MHz OCXO for excellent temperature stability of the system clock.
This synthesizer can generate output frequencies from less than 1 MHz up to 400 MHz (based on a 1 GHz clock) with step sizes of 4 μHz. The output power is available up to 13 dBm at the specified frequency.

The DDS-2CH-OCXO comes in a robust aluminum milled case and operates over the temperature range of 0°C to 50°C. A protocol to manage this synthesizer can be provided and interfaced with an external controller through 3.3 V UART communication.

Microwave Frequency Synthesizers

Polaris’ Microwave Frequency Synthesizers (PMFS synthesizers) operate in the frequency range from 3.4 GHz to 35 GHz and are categorized into fixed frequency synthesizers (PMFS-F synthesizers), variable frequency synthesizers (PMFS-V synthesizers), and high power synthesizers (PMFS-P synthesizers).
The PMFS synthesizers employ a fractional-N PLL architecture to provide fine frequency resolution with excellent spurious and phase noise performance. The PMFS synthesizers are available in a variety of configurations, including a RF output power and output frequency range options.

●  PMFS-F synthesizers (Microwave Fixed Frequency Synthesizers)
The PMFS-F synthesizers can be easily customized to any fixed frequency upon request within 3.4 GHz to 35 GHz.

●  PMFS-V synthesizers (Microwave Variable Frequency Synthesizers)
The PMFS-V synthesizers can change the output frequency with very simple programming command and have a non-volatile memory feature that will return to the last set frequency when power is turned on.

●  PMFS-P synthesizers (Microwave High Power Fixed Frequency Synthesizers)
The PMFS-P synthesizers are a high power fixed frequency synthesizers that output RF power up to 20 dBm.

Surface Mount PLL Synthesizers

Polaris’ surface mount PLL synthesizers operate in the frequency range from 3.4 GHz to 13.6 GHz and are available in a surface mountable package measuring 26.2 mm x 26.2 mm x 4.0 mm. These synthesizers employ a microwave fractional-N PLL architecture to provide fine frequency resolution with excellent spurious and phase noise. These synthesizers are categorized into fixed frequency synthesizers (PSPS-F synthesizers) and variable frequency synthesizers (PSPS-V synthesizers).

●  PSPS-F synthesizers (Surface Mount PLL Synthesizers for Fixed Frequency)
The PSPS-F synthesizers can be easily customized to any fixed frequency upon request between 3.4 GHz and 13.6 GHz

●  PSPS-V synthesizers (Surface Mount PLL Synthesizers for Variable Frequency)
The PSPS-V synthesizers can change the output frequency with very simple programming command and have a non-volatile memory feature that will return to the last set frequency when power is turned on.
